Houston won its third straight for the first time since 1971 and dropped Buffalo into a tie with Miami for the AFC East lead by intercepting six of Joe Ferguson's passes. Ferguson had only four passes picked off in eight previous games. Dan Pastorini passed for one score and directed a ground attack for two more while the Oilers held the Bills to three field goals by John Leypoldt. O. J. Simpson reinjured an ankle and left the game in the second half.
