Joe Namath completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Emerson Boozer after 6:53 of the overtime period to give the Jets the first extra period victory in an NFL regular season game. The Giants won the toss at the outset of the overtime and drove to the Jets' 25 but, on fourth down, Pete Gogolak missed a 42-yard field goal attempt. Namath's touchdown pass climaxed a 75-yard drive. The Jets tied the game in regulation on a three-yard run by Namath in the fourth period.
