The Redskins, trailing 10-0 after one period, struck with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Billy Kilmer to Roy Jefferson on the first play of the second quarter. Minutes later, Washington moved into the lead on a Kilmer-to-Larry Brown two-yard scoring pass which was set up when Rams punter Mike Burke tried an unsuccessful pass on fourth-and-10 from his own 23-yard line. The victory earned Washington a first-place tie in the NFC East and assured the Redskins of a place in the playoffs. Kilmer completed 19 of 29 for 269 yards and three touchdowns.
