On a clear, windy 65 degree day, the Rams turned two fumble recoveries into a pair of field goals within 4½ minutes to tie and go ahead of the Redskins 13-10 at the outset of the fourth period. Two minutes later, linebacker Isiah Robertson intercepted a Sonny Jurgensen pass and ran 59 yards for a touchdown to insure the victory which earned Los Angeles a place in the NFC championship game for the first time since 1955, when they lost to Cleveland 38-14.
