Bengal quarterback Ken Anderson, who riddled the Saints defense with 17 completions in 22 pass attempts for 203 yards, got Cincinnati off to a quick 7-0 lead on a 52-yard scoring connection to Isaac Curtis, then followed with touchdown throws of 14 yards to Charlie Joiner and another of five yards to Curtis. The game marked Cincinnati's first shutout victory since 1973 and only the third in the club's eight-year history.
