Dave Hampton rushed for 101 yards on a rain-soaked field and rookie quarterback Steve Bartkowski connected on a pair of scoring plays, but it took a lucky bounce to register the second touchdown. Bartkowski found Ken Burrow for a nine-yard, first period score. In the second period, Bartkowski again connected with Burrow for a 15-yard gain to the Atlanta 38, but Burrow fumbled the ball which bounced ahead to the 50. Falcons' tight end Jim Mitchell picked up the loose ball and raced 50 yards to the end zone.
