All NFL game summaries for 10/12/1975:
Buffalo won its fourth straight on a 159-yard performance by O. J. Simpson and a three-touchdown day by Jim Braxton despite four touchdowns by Baltimore's Lydell Mitchell, which tied a club record and tied him with Simpson and Chuck Foreman of the Vikings for the most points scored in a game in the NFL in 1975. The Colts led 14-0, 21-10, and 28-24 and tied the game at 31-31 early in the final period before the Bills locked it up with a time-consuming drive ending in Braxton's third score. O. J.'s yardage gave him 697 for the season, his fourth 100-yard game in succession. Mitchell gained 107 yards on 19 carries, scoring twice on runs and twice on passes from Bert Jones. Joe Ferguson also threw TD passes to John Holland and Braxton.

The Oilers remained very much in the AFC Central race with a 3-1 record by rolling over the Browns with the aid of three touchdown passes by Dan Pastorini. All three of Pastorini's scoring passes went to tight end Mack Alston, his first catches of the season. Billy Johnson raced 81 yards for a score with the second-half opening kickoff, his second touchdown on a kick return in two weeks. Skip Butler made good on four of six field goal attempts when drives faltered. Ronnie Coleman had his second 100-yard day with 110 yards on 14 carries while the Oilers' defenders intercepted four of Mike Phipps' passes.

Lions' quarterback Bill Munson, making his first start of the season because Greg Landry had back problems, connected for three touchdown passes while completing 19 of 30 for 178 yards. Jon Staggers, who caught six passes for 82 yards, caught a touchdown pass, as did Ray Jarvis and Charlie Sanders. Detroit's defense kept the Bears outside of its 20-yard line until a late drive resulted in a Chicago score on the final play of the game.

Mike Livingston returned to action after missing two games due to injuries and fired three touchdown passes in the Chiefs' surprisingly easy victory over the Raiders. Kansas City intercepted Ken Stabler three times and recovered three fumbles while handing the Raiders their first defeat and giving new coach Paul Wiggin his first victory. Woody Green rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries and Livingston hit Walter White, Ed Podolak and Billy Masters for touchdowns in addition to scoring himself on a fumble recovery. It was the Raiders' worst loss since 1964 when they bowed 42-7, also to the Chiefs at Kansas City.

The Dolphins took charge of the ball in the second half, grinding out a victory with Don Nottingham, Norm Bulaich, and Mercury Morris doing the heavy work in a 207-yard ground attack. Bob Griese hit Nat Moore with a 13-yard touchdown pass and Garo Yepremian added his fifth field goal in five attempts this season. The Eagles took an early lead on a Roman Gabriel pass to Charlie Smith and a Horst Muhlmann field goal but didn't score again until the closing minutes with another Gabriel pass. It was the 131st coaching triumph for Miami coach Don Shula, moving him into fifth place in the all-time NFL standings.

After falling behind 21-20 as the Jets converted a blocked punt, recovered on the Vikings' 8, into a touchdown, Minnesota retaliated as Joe Blahak blocked a New York punt out of the end zone for a safety and 22-21 lead. On the ensuing possession, the Vikings drove 57 yards in nine plays with Chuck Foreman scoring his third touchdown from the 4, to clinch their fourth straight victory. Foreman rushed 96 yards and caught nine passes for 105. The game marked Minnesota's 200th in the NFL.

Despite taking a 14-0 lead in the first 1:05 on Steve Odom's 93-yard touchdown return of the opening kickoff and defensive tackle Mike McCoy's fumble recovery and 19-yard run into the end zone, the Packers fell to their fourth straight defeat -- the first time Green Bay has lost its first four games -- as New Orleans, on its own 26-yard line with 1:05 left, drove to the Packers' 3 and rookie Rich Szaro kicked a 20-yard field goal as time elapsed. It was the Saints' first victory.

The Cowboys, unable to generate any sustained attack, took advantage of three of the Giants' five turnovers to score a pair of Toni Fritsch field goals -- 24 yards after D. D. Lewis recovered a fumble and 22 yards after Bill Gregory fell on another loose ball. Still trailing 7-6 entering the final period, Dallas cornerback Mark Washington intercepted a Craig Morton pass and the Cowboys moved 17 yards in four plays, with Roger Staubach hitting Jean Fugett for the winning touchdown that kept the Cowboys undefeated.

The second overtime game of the season was won by Los Angeles on Tom Dempsey's 22-yard field goal after 9:27 of sudden death play with San Diego. The underdog Chargers, suffering their fourth straight defeat, led 10-3 in the third quarter on a seven-yard run by Don Woods, who gained 105 for the day, and a 36-yard field goal by Ray Wersching. The Rams had a last minute chance to win in regulation but failed and then moved 81 yards to set up Dempsey's winning kick. Lawrence McCutcheon gained 112 yards on 20 carries.

Falcons' rookie quarterback Steve Bartkowski had to leave the game in the third period because of a left elbow injury, but before departing he hit tight end Jim Mitchell with a nine-yard touchdown pass and completed five passes in a second scoring drive climaxed by Haskell Stanback's 26-yard run. Atlanta's defense, meanwhile, sacked San Francisco passers six times and cornerback Rolland Lawrence and linebacker Greg Brezina each picked off two interceptions.
