The second overtime game of the season was won by Los Angeles on Tom Dempsey's 22-yard field goal after 9:27 of sudden death play with San Diego. The underdog Chargers, suffering their fourth straight defeat, led 10-3 in the third quarter on a seven-yard run by Don Woods, who gained 105 for the day, and a 36-yard field goal by Ray Wersching. The Rams had a last minute chance to win in regulation but failed and then moved 81 yards to set up Dempsey's winning kick. Lawrence McCutcheon gained 112 yards on 20 carries.
