Bert Jones threw two touchdown passes to rookie Marshall Johnson and scored once himself while the Colts' defensive unit sacked Joe Namath seven times for 74 yards, the most in his pro career. Despite the heavy rush Namath completed 19 of 28 for 333 yards and three touchdowns, his first 300-yard day since 1972. Two Jets' fumbles set up a pair of early Colts' scores and Lydell Mitchell rushed for 98 yards and caught three passes, increasing his AFC-Ieading total to 29 receptions. Fred Cook and Mike Barnes each had two sacks for Baltimore. Namath's 91-yard completion to Rich Caster, a Jets' record and the longest pass in the AFC in 1975, was wasted when they failed to score.

Pete Banaszak scored twice on short plunges and Ken Stabler threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Cliff Branch as the Raiders snapped a two-game losing streak by shutting out the Chargers for the second time. The Raiders, who held San Diego to minus 22 yards passing in a 6-0 victory at San Diego, limited them to 17 yards passing in the rematch. San Diego gave up two safeties when punter Dennis Partee and quarterback Jesse Freitas were downed in the end zone. Marv Hubbard returned to action for the first time since his injury in the opener. Bobby Douglass relieved Freitas as the Charger quarterback in his first AFC appearance.
