Billy Kilmer dove one foot for a touchdown at 6:34 of overtime to give the Redskins a victory which sent them into a three-way tie for first place in the NFC East with the Cowboys and Cardinals. Kilmer's score climaxed a nine-play drive which began at the Dallas 35, following Ken Houston's interception of a Roger Staubach pass which he returned 14 yards to midfield and a 15-yard personal foul penalty against Dallas. Kilmer, who completed 21 of 39 for 301 yards and three touchdowns, earlier drove Washington 60 yards to tie the game with 1:52 remaining in regulation on a seven-yard scoring pass to Jerry Smith. Dallas kicker Toni Fritsch missed a 38-yard field goal attempt with nine seconds left in the fourth period.
