Oakland shocked Denver with 35 points in the second half after trailing 17-7 early in the third quarter. Ken Stabler had one of his better days, firing two touchdown passes and the veteran Pete Banaszak scored two more touchdowns for a season total of seven. The win enabled the Raiders to open up a two-game lead over the Broncos and Chiefs in the AFC West. Neal Colzie, leading punt returner in the NFL with a 17.1 yard average, set up three scores by running back three punts for 127 yards. Marv Hubbard started for the first time since his shoulder injury in the opening game. Banaszak topped the rushers with 12 for 62 yards.
