Oakland set a club record of 34 first downs and scored seven touchdowns in its first interconference game of the season. Ken Stabler completed 16 of 23 for 232 yards and two touchdowns before giving way to rookie David Humm who hit with four straight for another score. Pete Banaszak scored his eighth TD of the season and 29th of his career while the Raiders rolled up 523 yards of total offense and held the Saints to 140 yards. Running backs Clarence Davis and Marv Hubbard and receiver Fred Biletnikoff, all of whom missed time early in the season due to injuries, were key offensive weapons.
