Jim Bakken kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired to produce the Cardinals' victory which kept the Big Red in a first-place tie with the Redskins in the NFC East. St. Louis controlled the ball for the final 7:48 of the game, marching from their own 17 to the Philadelphia 13 before Bakken's kick, which lifted him into fourth place on the NFL career scoring list with 1,132 points. In the season opener, Bakken kicked a 23-yard field goal as time ran out to defeat Atlanta. St. Louis had trailed 23-7 with 5:30 left in the third period.
