Roger Staubach kept the Cowboys one game behind the Cardinals in the NFC East with three touchdown passes, two to Drew Pearson and one to Golden Richards. Jim Plunkett returned after missing two games with a shoulder separation and also threw three TD passes and scored once. Plunkett hit Darryl Stingley with two scoring passes in the final five minutes but the rally fell short. Two 15-yard scrambles by Staubach led to the go-ahead score after the Patriots evened the score at 10-10 in the second quarter.
