Simpson for a victory that kept the Bengals in a first-place tie with the Steelers in the AFC Central. Anderson completed 30 of 46 for a club record yardage and hit Charlie Joiner and Lenvil Elliott with TD passes while the Bengals rolled to a club record of 553 yards on total offense. Simpson gained 154 yards on nine carries in the first half and wound up with 17 for 197 as Joe Ferguson took to the air in an attempt to catch the Bengals. Simpson's season total of 1,325 yards was 122 yards ahead of his pace in 1973 when he gained a record 2,003 yards.
