Jan Stenerud's 26-yard field goal after 6:44 of sudden death overtime gave the Chiefs the victory after stopping the Lions on a vital fourth-down play earlier in overtime. Errol Mann's 44-yard field goal on the final play of regulation lifted the Lions into a 21-21 tie. Woody Green rushed for 135 yards and MacArthur Lane for 108 in the Chiefs' 251 rushing total. Len Dawson started for the injured Mike Livingston, completing 17 of 25 for 217 yards and one touchdown. Woody Green's 42-yard scamper set up the winning score.
