Billy Kilmer threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Frank Grant with 40 seconds remaining and Mark Moseley added the extra point to enable the Redskins to pull within one game of the lead in the NFC East while knocking the Vikings from the unbeaten class and snapping Minnesota's two-season, 13-game winning streak. Washington's Ron McDole deflected a 45-yard field goal attempt by Minnesota's Fred Cox as time elapsed. The Vikings had a 30-24 lead with 1:56 remaining, but Kilmer drove the Redskins 77 yards in 71 seconds to produce the victory.
