Namath completed 14 of 18 passes and sneaked for a first down to set up the first of three field goals by Pat Leahy. John Riggins rushed for 152 yards and a total of 868 in his bid to become club's first 1,000-yard runner. Rookie Steve Grogan threw two touchdown passes to Randy Vataha but was intercepted twice. Don Calhoun, subbing for the injured Sam Cunningham, gained 103 yards in first start.
