Atlanta held a 7-6 halftime lead, but Los Angeles scored in three of its first four possessions in the second half to take control of the game. Rams' rookie quarterback Pat Haden made his NFL debut in relief and his only pass was a 47-yard touchdown to Ron Jessie in the fourth quarter. Lawrence McCutcheon, with 115 yards, and John Cappelletti, with 102, led the Rams' rushing attack. Monte Jackson intercepted a Steve Bartkowski pass and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown to seal the Rams' victory, their fifth straight over the Falcons.
