Franco Harris put the Steelers on top 28-14 on a three-yard run with 6:43 left in the game but the Raiders came storming back, scoring three times in the last three minutes to gain revenge following two straight AFC championship game losses to Pittsburgh. Ken Stabler's second touchdown pass to Dave Casper, finishing off a 76-yard drive, cut the Oakland deficit to seven points with 2:56 remaining. Warren Bankston blocked a Steelers' punt to set up a tying touchdown run by Stabler with 1:05 left. Seconds later, linebacker Willie Hall intercepted a deflected Terry Bradshaw pass which led to rookie Fred Steinfort's winning field goal with 18 seconds on the clock.
