NFL game summary for 09/19/1976:

Los Angeles's Jim Bertelsen dove over from the one with 1:55 left in regulation and Tom Dempsey's PAT tied the game at 10-10 which stood up for the next 16 minutes and 55 seconds as overtime attempts by both the Vikings and Rams failed to break the deadlock. Fred Cox was short on a field goal attempt from the 35 with 57 seconds left in the fourth period and Fran Tarkenton had two deep passes picked off in overtime to deny Minnesota a victory. Nate Allen snuffed out Los Angeles's only scoring threat in overtime when he blocked a 20-yard Dempsey field goal try after the Rams had driven 71 yards following Monte Jackson's interception of Tarkenton on the first play of overtime. Tarkenton passed for 294 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown pass to rookie Sammy White in the fourth quarter. The Rams' defense held the Vikings to 74 yards net rushing in five quarters.
