Steve Grogan's 103 yards rushing, the first 100-yard effort ever by a Patriots' quarterback, and two touchdowns led New England to a club record 330 yards rushing. Andy Johnson opened the scoring for the Patriots on a four-yard run and scored again on a 10-yard pass from Grogan. Grogan got his first TD in the second quarter when he picked up teammate Don Calhoun's fumble at the Jets' 6 and ran it in for the score.
