Gary Marangi hit Rueben Gant with a 27-yard scoring pass with 4:51 left in the first half to tie the game 7-7, prior to the Staubach-Pearson connection for a 14-7 Dallas advantage. The Cowboys recovered Buffalo's attempted onside kick after both teams traded fourth quarter field goals, and Mel Renfro intercepted Marangi on the Bills' final possession enabling Dallas to hang on for the win.
