Mark van Eeghen gave Oakland a 12-7 lead at the end of the first quarter on a one-yard run and the Raiders added 14 insurance points in the second half to clinch their fifth straight AFC Western Division title. Roman Gabriel threw his two-hundredth career touchdown pass, a one-yarder to Harold Carmichael, to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Oakland came back with a field goal and a safety before van Eeghen's TD. Ken Stabler, completing 14 of 18 passes, combined with Fred Biletnikoff for a 16-yard score in the third quarter and Clarence Davis picked up his third TD of the year on an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter.
