Ken Stabler completed 16 of 20 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Raiders past the Bengals and capture the home field advantage for the playoffs. Oakland spotted Cincinnati a 6-0 lead on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ken Anderson to John McDaniel before Stabler connected with Dave Casper for two first quarter touchdowns to put the Raiders ahead 14-6. Cincinnati pulled within one point on Stan Fritts's one-yard run, but Pete Banaszak gave Oakland a 21-13 halftime lead after Monte Johnson's first of two interceptions, and the Bengals never got closer than eight points.
