Billy Kilmer hit Mike Thomas with a two-yard, third-quarter touchdown pass to break a 3-3 tie and stretch Washington's undefeated record against Atlanta to 5-0-1. Mark Moseley's 26-yard field goal at 2:57 of the second quarter gave the Redskins the initial lead, which stood until Nick Mike-Mayer tied the game for the Falcons with a 23-yard field goal just over four minutes into the second half. Kilmer then drove Washington 61 yards in four plays late in the third period for the winning TD to Thomas. Scott Hunter completed 16 of 33 passes for 269 yards, including seven for 152 yards to Alfred Jenkins, but was unable to mount any comeback drive.
