NFL game summary for 10/16/1977:



Stu Voigt caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Paul Krause on a fake field goal attempt at 6:45 of overtime to provide the Vikings their fourth straight win. Chuck Foreman, who gained 150 yards on 26 carries, gave Minnesota a 7-0 lead 9:33 into the first period and a pair of Fred Cox field goals boosted the lead to 13-0. The Bears went ahead 16-13 when Bob Avellini tossed a nine-yard scoring pass to Bo Rather 1:04 before the half and threw another touchdown strike to Greg Latta late in the third period. The Vikings tied the game 16-16 on the next series, driving 52 yards in nine plays for Cox's 21-yard field goal. Alan Page and Matt Blair combined to block a Bob Thomas field goal at 1:55 to preserve the tie. Chicago won the toss in overtime but punted after three downs and Minnesota drove 80 yards in 10 plays for the winning score.
