NFL game summary for 10/16/1977:
The Giants took advantage of San Francisco mistakes to win their second game of the season and break a three-game losing streak. In the second quarter, Brian Kelley recovered a fumble and Ernie Jones blocked a punt that set up two touchdowns, one a 37-yard pass from Joe Pisarcik to Gary Shirk and the other a one-yard run by Willie Spencer. Joe Danelo also booted a 22-yard field goal to give the Giants a 17-3 halftime lead. Danelo kicked another 22-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to widen the lead to 20-3, but the winless 49ers came storming back on the strength of Jim Plunkett's arm.
