Cleo Miller gained a career-high 117 yards on the ground and Greg Pruitt added 90 more to spark the Browns to the win over the Bills. The win enabled the Browns to remain tied with Pittsburgh for the Central Division lead. Paul Warfield hauled in a deflected pass on the Bills' 22 and turned it into a 52-yard touchdown to give the Browns a 13-7 lead late in the first half. The Browns controlled the tempo of the game during most of the second half, running 55 plays to the Bills 13. Keith Moody's 91-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter was the longest in the Bills' 18-year history. O.J. Simpson led the Bills' rushers with 99 yards on 19 carries.
