The Cowboys won their sixth straight game and took a three-game lead in the NFC Eastern Division. Jay Saldi blocked a punt and Charlie Waters scooped up the loose ball and ran 17 yards for the touchdown that sent Dallas ahead (13-7) for the first time in the game with 14 minutes remaining. Horst Muhlmann kicked a 32-yard field goal with 1:37 left to close the gap to 16-10, but the Cowboys recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock. Efren Herrera missed the first extra point of his career after 82 straight conversions.
