Ken Stabler and Richard Todd treated the sellout crowd to an exciting passing duel with Todd winning the statistical battle and Stabler winning the game. Todd completed 17 of 29 passes for 396 yards and four touchdowns, which gave the Jets a 27-14 lead going into the final quarter. Stabler brought the Raiders back by firing touchdown strikes to Fred Biletnikoff and Mike Siani. Stabler finished the day with 19 completions out of 26 attempts for 230 yards. Mark van Eeghen had 143 rushing yards on a club-record 36 attempts.
