All NFL game summaries for 11/13/1977:
Atlanta's defense, which has been the best in pro football against scoring this year, did some scoring of its own to carry the Falcons past Detroit for the first time in their history. Rick Kane scored on an 11-yard run in the opening period, but the kick failed and Detroit led 6-0. The score remained intact until Fred Steinfort cut the lead in half with a 31-yard field goal on the second play of the fourth quarter. With just 8:02 left, Ralph Ortega picked up a fumble and rambled to a score and just as suddenly, Robert Pennywell scored on a 20-yard interception return as the Falcons' defense turned the game around.

Baltimore used the passing of Bert Jones and a balanced rushing attack to defeat Buffalo. John Kimbrough returned a punt 73 yards to give the Bills a short-lived first-quarter lead. The Colts countered with a Toni Linhart field goal and a five-yard TD run by Lydell Mitchell to take a 10-7 lead. Second period touchdown runs by Mitchell and Roosevelt Leaks broke the game open as Buffalo could only manage a 26-yard field goal by Carson Long. In the third quarter, Long added another field goal, but James' touchdown run widened the winning margin to 18.

Bob Avellini threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Greg Latta with just three seconds remaining as the Bears won a see-saw battle. The Chiefs jumped to a 17-0 halftime lead via one-yard runs by Mike Livingston and Ed Podolak and a 37-yard field goal by Jan Stenerud. Walter Payton, who rushed for 192 yards, scored three second-half touchdowns to put the Bears ahead 21-20 with just 2:02 remaining in the game. The Chiefs then scored what appeared to be the winning TD on an Ed Podolak 14-yard run with 24 seconds left. But the Bears rallied. Brian Baschnagel returned the kickoff to the Chicago 43 and Avellini completed a 20-yard pass to Robin Earl before the last-second toss to Latta.

Pat Haden marched the Rams 96 yards for a touchdown on their second series to set the tone for a game that saw the Rams roll up 336 total yards. Haden threw for 146 yards and John Cappelletti rushed for 74 to spark a ball-control offense. Lynn Dickey broke his leg as he threw a pass on the last play of the game. That was only one of many frustrating moments for the Packers. Earlier, Dave Elmendorf and Pat Thomas set up a touchdown and a field goal with runbacks of turnovers.

He completed 17 of 18 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown while directing the Vikings to a 21-10 lead. He was replaced by Tommy Kramer, who completed four of six passes and led the Vikings to three more touchdowns. Mark Moseley's 54-yard field goal with 3:41 Ieft in the game lifted the Redskins past the Eagles and kept Washington's hopes for a wild card berth alive in the NFC. The only score in the first half came on a Ron Jaworski-to-Tom Sullivan pass. Early in the third period, Joe Theismann hit Frank Grant on a 14-yard scoring play and the teams entered the fourth quarter deadlocked 7-7. The Eagles took the lead again on a one-yard run by Jaworski, but Theismann found Danny Buggs open in the end zone to tie the game and set the stage for Moseley's game-winning kick.
