Baltimore used the passing of Bert Jones and a balanced rushing attack to defeat Buffalo. John Kimbrough returned a punt 73 yards to give the Bills a short-lived first-quarter lead. The Colts countered with a Toni Linhart field goal and a five-yard TD run by Lydell Mitchell to take a 10-7 lead. Second period touchdown runs by Mitchell and Roosevelt Leaks broke the game open as Buffalo could only manage a 26-yard field goal by Carson Long. In the third quarter, Long added another field goal, but James' touchdown run widened the winning margin to 18.
