Craig Morton hit Haven Moses with two second-half touchdown passes, the final one an eight-yarder with 1:36 remaining, to give the 8-1 Broncos a 17-14 win and enable them to stay abreast of Oakland in the AFC West. The Chargers caught the Broncos by surprise when James Harris handed off to Joe Washington, who lobbed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Joiner, making it 14-3 at halftime. The Broncos' first touchdown came in the third quarter when Morton hit Moses with a 33-yard scoring pass, capping a 66-yard drive in nine plays.
