Rickey Young rushed for 83 yards and scored once and rookie Rolf Benirschke kicked two field goals as the Chargers defeated the defending Super Bowl champions 12-7. The loss dropped the Raiders (8-2) out of a first place tie with Denver. Ken Stabler left the game late in the first period with a twisted knee and Mike Rae had trouble generating much offense in relief. Cliff Olander made his first start of the season at quarterback and directed the Chargers on a 44-yard, eight-play drive that was capped by Young's four-yard touchdown.
