Toni Fritsch's 19-yard field goal with 14 seconds left decided the game. Dan Pastorini's 44-yard pass to Ken Burrough set up the winning kick. After trailing 10-0 at halftime, Houston came back to take a 13-10 lead on a touchdown pass from Pastorini to Richard Caster and a seven-yard touchdown run by Rob Carpenter. Midway through the fourth quarter Charlie Hall recovered an Oilers fumble, and Don Cockroft kicked a 40-yard field goal.
