Newly acquired Jim Braxton scored two touchdowns and Don Strock and Bob Griese each threw scoring passes in the victory. Braxton scored on two and one-yard runs and Strock hit Loaird McCreary with a five-yard touchdown pass as the Dolphins converted three San Diego turnovers into a 21-7 halftime advantage. Lydell Mitchell scored twice on one-yard runs in the third quarter to narrow the gap, but Griese hit Nat Moore with a 12-yard scoring pass.
