The Dolphins' defense forced five Dallas turnovers and limited the Cowboys to three field goals in the first three quarters to spark the interconference victory. Bob Griese's pinpoint passing (12 of 18 for 185 yards) led Miami to scores on its first three possessions. Griese directed an opening 73-yard march that was capped by Norm Bulaich's one-yard run. Bob Baumhower's fumble recovery set up Delvin Williams' one-yard run that increased the Miami lead to 14-0, and Garo Yepremian later kicked a 45-yard field goal.
