Gary Danielson threw two touchdown passes and Horace King scored on a 75-yard run to lead Detroit to its third win in four games. Tampa Bay led 10-7 in the second quarter when King scored on the second-longest run of the NFL season and the sixth-longest in Detroit history. The Lions increased the advantage to 21-13 on Danielson's second touchdown pass of the day to tight end David Hill. Neil O'Donoghue kicked three field goals for the Buccaneers, including a club record 49-yarder. Detroit's defense recorded eight sacks, five of those by rookie defensive end Al Baker.
