Al Hunter rushed for 133 yards and scored two touchdowns as Seattle became the first third-year team in NFL history to win nine games in a season. Hunter's second touchdown came on a fourth-and-one play and gave the Seahawks a 20-3 lead. Kansas City's Tony Reed followed with a 62-yard run to cut the Seattle lead to 20-17. Reed rushed 11 times for 121 yards and finished the season with 1,053 yards, the most by a Kansas City back since Mike Garrett gained 1,087 in 1967. Seattle's Steve Largent captured the AFC receiving crown with 71 catches for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns.
