Dan Fouts threw two touchdown passes in a span of eight minutes in the first quarter and Woodrow Lowe returned an interception 32 yards for a second quarter touchdown to lead the Chargers' victory. Fouts capped San Diego's first possession, a 65-yard drive, with a 24-yard pass to John Jefferson. He later threw a 54-yard scoring bomb to Bob Klein. Gregg McCrary blocked a Ray Guy punt out of the end zone for a safety with 2:19 remaining in the third period and rookie Kellen Winslow rounded out the scoring with his first NFL touchdown, a five-yard pass from Fouts.
