Jim Turner kicked a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left to lift the Broncos into a first-place tie with San Diego in the AFC West. Craig Morton drove Denver from its own 44 yard line with 18 seconds left, hitting passes of 22 yards to Steve Watson and 19 yards to Haven Moses to set up the winning kick. The Broncos rebounded from a 10-3 halftime deficit as Randy Gradishar recovered a fumble and lateraled to Louis Wright, who covered 78 yards for the score. Morton later followed with a 46-yard scoring pass to Moses.
