Richard Todd hit Mickey Shuler with a four-yard touchdown pass with 12:25 left in the game as the Jets defeated the AFC East champion Dolphins. Steve Towle's interception at the Miami 39 gave the Dolphins a final chance to win the game. However, Burgess Owens recovered Don Strock's fumble to preserve the win for the Jets. The victory was the Jets' fourth in a row over Miami. Nat Moore led Miami with five receptions for 102 yards, while the Jets' Bruce Harper had two catches for 89 yards, including one for a 72-yard touchdown.
