Richard Todd hit Mickey Shuler with a four-yard touchdown pass with 12:25 left in the game as the Jets defeated the AFC East champion Dolphins. Steve Towle's interception at the Miami 39 gave the Dolphins a final chance to win the game. However, Burgess Owens recovered Don Strock's fumble to preserve the win for the Jets.
