Two students were shot by policemen at Jackson State College in Mississippi. The police claim that a sniper fired on them; students deny it. Police fired on a girls' dormitory after students threw rocks from windows. The college is now closed and the students have left. [CBS] The University of Ohio in Athens is also closed because of persistent student disorders. Police used pepper gas on a crowd of students; 25 were injured and 30 arrested. The National Guard has been called in. [CBS] Michigan State students marched peacefully on the state capitol, demanding that the state legislature help halt the Vietnam war. A car plowed into the crowd and students reacted. Police rescued the driver from the angry crowd and charged him with drunk and felonious driving. He claims that the amendment is unconstitutional and unnecessary and it would drastically limit the President and hurt the Cambodian operation. [CBS] Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall entered the hospital after suffering a heart attack. [CBS] A grand jury investigating the raid on the Black Panthers by Chicago police issued its report. There were no indictments, but the jurors found the actions of the police and the state's attorney to be faulty. [CBS] South Vietnam claims that Highway 1 is now clear to Phnom Penh but South Vietnamese armor has been ordered not to enter the Cambodian capitol. The Communists attacked Americans in northeast Cambodia as the U.S. is still seeking Communist headquarters. [CBS] Former Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren spoke before the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, and gave its members a grim view of America. Warren says that this is the worst crisis in years. [CBS] Israeli and Egyptian jets fought over the Suez; loss reports conflict. [CBS] The International Olympic Committee expelled South Africa for practicing racial discrimination. [CBS] France began a new series of above-ground nuclear tests in the South Pacific. [CBS] San Francisco Teamsters staged a wildcat strike and closed the downtown area. They were protesting Teamster dismissals in Los Angeles. [CBS] Auto workers halted production for three minutes today to honor late United Auto Workers president Walter Reuther. [CBS]
