The occasionally lopsided judicial system in America comes under fire. Newsman Eric Sevareid examines how the serious backlog of cases pending before courts tends to compromise justice, specifically through a procedure called plea bargaining. In the method, the prosecutor and defense attorney dispense with the formality of the courtroom when they argue the disposition of a case in private. Commenting on the overall situation are Chief Justice Warren Burger of the Supreme Court, President Nixon, defense lawyers and trial judges.
