The portrait scans extensive abandoned housing, which was left as targets for vandals and fire bombers in the wake of the mass exodus to the suburbs in the past two decades. One scene shows the giant Pruitt-Igoe housing project in St. Louis, whose deserted ruins give only a small suggestion that the project originally housed 2,800 families and represented an initial investment of $36,000,000 15 years ago. Other cities visited are Chicago, Cleveland and New York.
