[ABC 8:00] Earthquake
ABC News' Jules Bergman takes a look at one of nature's most devastating phenomena. Film clips recall the destruction of San Francisco in 1906, Tokyo in 1923, the 1964 quake in Alaska and Southern California's catastrophe last year. Bergman also visits the laboratories of renowned earthquake experts, including Caltech's Dr. Clarence Allen and Dr. Barry Raleigh, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey team working on a means of controlling earthquakes.

Theodor (Dr. Seuss) Geisel turns to ecological problems with the Lorax, a non-person, non-animal who "speaks for the trees" in an effort to save his "truffula" forest from being turned into raw material for "thneeds", an invention of Once-ler, the arch enemy of the truffula tree. Eddie Albert narrates.
