[CBS 8:00] National Geographic Special: The Last Vikings [special] A study of the direct descendants of the warlike seafarers who plundered the coasts of Europe in the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries. Today's "Vikings" -- fishermen, shipbuilders, sheepherders and whalers -- live in such remote spots as the tiny Faroe Islands off Denmark, the Loften Isles in the Norwegian Sea and Greenland. Delving into Viking history and traditions, the hour also looks at artifacts and reconstructed ships.

[ABC 8:00] ABC Documentaries "A Small Town in Iowa": ABC News correspondent Harry Reasoner returns home to Humboldt, Iowa, for an essay on small-town America. "Children in Peril" examines child abuse in a program written, produced and hosted by Marlene Sanders. Included are visits to such therapy and treatment centers as Denver's University of Colorado Medical Center and Boston's Parents Center, and the Parents Anonymous program founded at the California Institution for Women.

The girls give an Orphan Annie introduction to the "news" and members of the cast take part in a new panel show, "The Aging Game".

Investigating a syndicate murder and million-dollar robbery, the pair become the hunted instead of the hunters. Guests: Van Johnson, Diane Baker, Charles Cioffi, Jane Powell, Dewey Martin. "The New Healers" stars Robert Foxworth, Jonathan Lippe and Kate Jackson as paramedics in rural California. The young medics meet strong resistance in a mountain community faced with a natural disaster. Guests: Leif Erickson, Burgess Meredith, William Windom.
