Thirty leading Soviet stage and screen performers are featured in the English-dubbed production that was five years in the making and cost $100 million. The story follows the fortunes and relationships of four aristocratic families in Russia during eight stormy years, 1805-1812, when the nation was caught up in war with Napoleon. Arthur Hill hosts the series.
